A campsite in City of Rocks
So yeah, I know I'm a day early to this one, but it's partly with good reason, as I need to post something to test something I'm implementing. Speaking, of, images are finally a thing now, on this blog! In that wise, you'll notice an image attached to this one. It's not exactly a perfect implementation- as McCoy would say, I'm a network engineer, not a programmer! ...or something like that. Anyway, I'm glad I got it working.
Speaking of speaking of images, I've also finally accomplished something that I've been fiddling with off and on for a year or so, now: my Piwigo server! If you are like 99.999 percent of people out there and don't know what that is, it's an open-source photo gallery. So, now, if you look at the nav bar at the top of this page, you'll notice there's a link to take you to my photo gallery. In that wise, while I am happy to put out and share my photo collection to a degree, my apologies to the photography snobs out there who may quickly notice that even the best ones were only taken with a cell phone camera. Granted, it's a good resolution- but it ain't no DLSR. That said, my fortunes in that regard may be changing soon- fingers crossed!
Snow hit us this week! The image you see attached isn't one from this week, but doggon it, I need some way to Christen the start of my blog now supporting photos. In a more interesting story, I had an interesting cuisine experience this weekend. Having been in the Philippines for a couple of years, (and if you know much of anything about the Philippines), you might think I've at least given myself the opportunity to try Durian... but the occasion never really presented itself. So, when I and the boys were out looking around the local Asian market for fun stuff, and we saw frozen durian pops, we couldn't resist.
On that wise, if you know ANYTHING about durian, you are already aware that when we opened the plastic-wrapped frozen pops, we were greeted with a smell I could best describe as rotting fish and pineapple. It was more mild than an actual durian, but there was certainly no mistaking it. Well, braving against the odor, we put the taste to the test, and... how shall I say? It tasted much better than it smelled... but it was still weird... the taste would most closely resembled bananas, I suppose. In that light, it's a real shame I'm not a banana guy; so I was not big fan. But since we spent a small fortune to buy them, I cringed my way through the rest. For the next several hours, anytime I even slightly burped, it was like I was exhaling pure durian.
So that was fun. But durian, photos and snow aside, it's been another fine week in the life. Until next time, see ya!
