Aaaaaaaaand... weeee're back! It has been a few weeks now since my website was constantly up and visible, and now it's better than ever! ...well, I mean, it looks the same, but the back end of things is more stable and secure than ever! My home subnets are designed and in use, my domain has been transferred to my desired registrar, SSL is working in strict mode, my sub-domains are working, and my physical setup here in this apartment has been moved somewhere more stable and suitable. My ramblings last week mentioned the beginning of that move. After months and dare I say, probably even years now, that linen closet is silenced. Everything on my network has primarily taken up residence in the utility closet. Of course, since it all builds up the temperature in there, we have to set the thermostat like 5 degrees higher to adjust for the sensor, but it's a much better setup, now. And it took now short time to get it to where it is, now.
Now, at this point, the main thing I need to take care of is making this website actually look nice. I know it's looked pretty dry up until now, but I've been in over my head with improving up the back end of things. But anyways, that's really where much of my joy has come from this week is getting all of my loose ends tied up. After all is said and done, here, these projects have not only been long and difficult to figure out on my own, but it's the kind of thing where it would stress/tire me out, and I would just spend on hour or two avoiding it- sometimes more. But if there's anything I can say I gained from college, it's persevering, pushing, and seeing a project through to the end.
So, enjoy the website being back up! Again, it'll look better soon, but give it a little time. In the meantime, if any of you feel like you have aspirations to setup your own home network- to any degree- feel free to ask me some questions. Part of the reason I love doing this is because it makes me feel very independent and powerful over my own data.
Until next time, happy early Presidents' day!
